Using a Care Package Marker to run faster is NOT, I repeat is NOT a glitch. Alot of people may dislike the whole fact that you can run around with a Care Package Marker at almost twice the speed, but lets just take a moment to look at the facts.
Just in case you haven’t seen it in action check out this video created by Dan:
1) A compressed gas canister is lighter in weight than an SMG or pistol. Its obviously going to increase your speed.
2) In order to get it you must first try and get a 4 kill streak.
3) You are severely handicapped at long distances as your wielding the care package marker not a gun.
4) You are also not reaping the rewards from the care package.
Based on these 4 facts its merely using common sense to gain an advantage over your rivals when using the flanking tactic. When used in open fire its the most useless piece of equipment, this is prime in maps like wasteland.
So either get used to it or rap up.

The whole game is f**ked, its full of cheats, its full of s**t and is nothing like the real thing. Why don’t you join up if you think that kind of c**p is exciting.

I think the best fix would be just not allowing you to switch to the care package smoke grenade and just make you throw it when you press your killstreak button like you throw normal grenades.
Umm, hello you moron…It doesn’t matter how much your “canister of air” (as you call it) weighs (and actually, it’s a canister of chemicals that doesn’t weigh less than an smg, at least not by much), because your weapons are still going to be on your person. You can’t change your weight by holstering or slinging your weapon and putting a can in your hand. And since this canister is something you presumably didn’t have BEFORE you got a killstreak, you actually now weigh MORE.
It still needs to be addressed, it doesn’t say anywhere in an official strategy that makes it valid.
The writer of http://www.interwebz.co.uk has written a superior article. I got your point and there is nothing to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not disagree with: You’ve never quite sure whether it’s ok to eat green crisps. I will be back.
Thanks for sharing this helpful info!
Saw your blog bookmarked on Digg.I love your site and marketing strategy.
This is a great site, I love the theme you are using. I Stumbled it for you and bookmarked it on Digg.
The information presented is top notch. I’ve been doing some research on the topic and this post answered several questions.
I like your style, the fact that your site is a little bit different makes it so interesting, I get fed up of seeing same-old-same-old all of the time. I’ve just stumbled this page for you
Very appropriate!
I was on the xbox earlier and it still works hmmm.
Some very valid points, I used the care package marker method to annoy people when they either come at me with over powered models or were noob tubing me. They noob me I noob them simple.
Eriqo214 agreed you had to be PRO at knfiing to get kills in COD4, did you know there is a similar glitch in COD4. I was messing around on COD4 with C4 and noticed when you have the detonator in your hand you run super fast.
When I wrote those 4 points I was referring to the game physics. In the fact that swapping a heavy gun for a lighter gun makes you run faster IN GAME, so thus means the care package marker should naturally be lighter.
Those 4 reasons don’t really show it isn’t a glitch lol and it is a glitch because it makes your primary and secondary gun weightless. A little gas can wud make a person lighter but it wud not just make his guns weigh nothing :/ and the knifing animation does not exist while you package run. If you look at the animation while a person cp runs, you may notice tht the character is not even holding a knife! It just looks like he punches you with two hands! And btw, just because using the glitch on an open map like wasteland isn’t smart, or useful, does not mean it’s fair.
Guess what Ainsley, suck it up (referring to the update).
Whether you label it a glitch or not the fact remains that the care package marker was not intended for the type of thing people were using it for.
I hope they address knife runners next, ie. when a knifer gets hit with bullets running speed should be reduced momentarily. In real life if you took a knife into a MW2 type gun fight and were running around with it you would die in a heartbeat. Knifing was a lot harder in COD4 without the shitty perks, now ppl think they’re good when they can knife with all this extra crap in MW2? You make me laugh. Knifing should be as in COD4: hard so that only the best could be knife running around.
I’m pretty sure the care package was intended to bring you a random killsteak reward, lol. How could anyone think they would have put an alternate reason for it like running super fast in a crouched position. The people who are arguing that this is not a glitch have realized they dont have to have skill just to rank up, so they are sad to see it fixed. I cant wait till the game is fair agian!!!
It’s an obvious oversite on the developers part. If it was so fair then why is the score so lobsided. It has been fixed, and I for one am glad that you will have to learn to play fair now. Get over it.
I dont think u guys really get this. b.c even though the weight is still on your back it would be easier to run. its easier to run without a big gun in your hands b.c u can use your arms more and run freely. although the same principle should be applied to wielding a pistol. but its whatever. i think its more fun to run and knife than to camp and fire.
hahahaha! its funny how people are saying knifing is “noobish” or “newbish”, whatever the case maybe. but dont you think it takes a lot more skill to go up to the person and knife them?
id say, a more noobish thing to do is the shotgun 1887, i believe, with akimbo perk.
READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU MAKE A STATEMENT.
ok, the ‘valid’ point has been taken to the table, that even if the gun is not in front of you, the weight should still be there, right? true, but have you ever had a holster to your side, military-issue which is a level 2 class retention system or better. this means that you can run as fast as you can with the weight on your side, almost as if the weight is not there. now, the weapon on your back? same thing. the strap is loose enough to move around from front to back WITHOUT excessive swaying when running.
so YES, the weight is there BUT you can run as fast as you can without thinking about the artillery.
now, heres the rebuttle, which one is easier to run with? a loaded gun and a knife occupying both hands with the possiblity of AD’ing the pistol, or a harmless canister? id say, id be able to run faster with just the canister with my pistol holstered and my main gun on my back, i can run full stride…that is in real world condition….
im not taking any sides here. im not a melee person. im more of a sniper person that goes for headshots on moving targets. but IMHO, this is NOT a glitch, but ‘real world’ physiques that is very well exploited by people who lives for the game.
one more thing…if this post riles you up, theres more to life than the game. get out and have fun with you real friends to hang out or get laid!
Well, for all of you who are arguing about physics and how in real life, this wouldn’t be possible…
It doesn’t matter if it applies tot he laws of physics. With a “perk,” you can jump off of a 100 foot cliff and take no “damage.” Imagine THAT in real life (well, actually that’d be pretty dam cool.) The point is, how did this marker get on your person in the first place? How come it’s impossible to start out with two pistols? How do you “respawn”?
It really doesn’t apply to the laws of physics at all.
And it also eliminates the knifing speed bonus of tactical knife too, and I know plenty of people who would choose that over some more speed.
Thanks RCR_EL-Bee, agreed it needs to be fixed. I no longer use it.
Your right, it’s not a glitch … it’s an exploit. It still needs to be addressed.
That still does not suggest it is a ‘glitch’. The model akimbo strength was addressed but this was not a glitch.
From 402s Twitter:
@fourzerotwo When is the care package speed thing gunna be fixed?
@ademerse I don’t have a date for that update, but it will be addressed.
Seems like it’s a glitch to me,
But then try argue the fact that you run faster with a pistol in your hand than an LMG even though your LMG is still on your back. Your argument is also flawed, so based on the physics used in the game then my argument is backed up.
Sorry I have not been on to publish your comment mate. Some very valid points made there RCR_El-Bee, Its not that much more faster than wielding a handgun, it only looks fast when using the commando pro perk.
@ Mingeford: They cant ban someone for running around with a canister which has been put on the game to use, if you cant handle it leave the game. I use it to annoy the shotty’s, noobtubers and RPG’ers which are way to over powered.
If it were to be removed I will propose allowing players to weild a knife only.
Microsoft has banned no one for doing it you dumb shit
Why hasn’t my comment been published?
I commented on this yesterday or the day before and it has not yet been posted. Can you explain why?
What’s your gamertag? I’ll get you banned to, you cheat.
1) A compressed gas canister is lighter in weight than an SMG or pistol. Its obviously going to increase your speed.
This implies that the players weapon has been discarded… therefore once the marker is thrown that player should be less one weapon. However, this is not the case. This point is invalid. Players retain both weapons once a care package marker is thrown.
Points 2 and 3 are valid and do not warrant comment by myself.
4) You are also not reaping the rewards from the care package.
You are reaping the reward of increased speed, however. For players employing the knife class (Marathon pro, Lightweight pro, Commando) this speed increase enables them enhanced mobility beyond what is normal.
The argument that the speed increase is to allow a player to reach a secure area is weak at best. Once obtained, a player should realize that a secure and secluded portion of the map is required in order to effectively call in a care package. Should a player choose to equip the marker in a non-secure environment, he risks being gunned down. Knowing this, it would be unwise to equip the marker before reaching a secure area.
The speed boost, whether intended or a glitch, is not required and makes little sense. It is being exploited either way and should be remedied, either by removing the ability to knife while a marker is equipped, or by removing the speed boost altogether.
Your argument is that they are not carrying a weapon and therefore have less weight so they are faster.
I don’t know why the obvious response was not given to this. YOU STILL HAVE THE WEAPON ON YOUR PERSON!!!!!!
Think about it. You put your weapon on your back or wherever and pull out the marker. You still have the weight of the weapon on you, so, there should be no change in speed. Also, the weight of one 10 pound weapon is not enough to slow somebody by half.
Your argument is flawed. It is a glitch. I didn’t even know it existed until I read this either.
And unless you have a shotgun out, it’s impossible to kill someone even just knifing with lightweight and marathon on.
The overall speed of the individual should be determined by the overall loadout and not just what is out in front of them at the time.
Mingeford that is a load of bull. Microsoft would have patched it by now if it was a glitch. If you cant handle fact that a care package marker is lighter to run with than a gun then your just plain stupid.
It takes skill to get 4 kills with a knife without dying to get the care package so rap up isi. You probably cant handle it when people do it.
It IS glitching, and employed by people who have no skill.
Make sure you report to Microsoft anybody doing this, I have had 3 people banned already!
never read such nonsens!
nice.
