Google Buzz has been developed by Google to rival the likes of social networking giants Facebook and Twitter. Google buzz is currently being rolled out to everyone, so it should be appearing in peoples Gmail accounts soon.

Features:

No setup needed
Automatically follow the people you email and chat with the most in Gmail.

Share publicly or privately
Publish your ideas to the world or just to your closest friends.

Inbox integration
Comments get sent right to your inbox so it’s easy to keep the conversation going.

Photo friendly
See thumbnails with each post, and browse full-screen photos from popular sites.

Connect sites you already use
Import your stuff from Twitter, Picasa, Flickr, and Google Reader.

See updates in real time:
New posts and comments pop in as they happen. No refresh required.

Just the good stuff
Buzz recommends interesting posts and weeds out ones you’re likely to skip.

This comes at the time when Facebook have just launched their new and imporved ‘home’ design, which has a more web 2.0 feel to it.

Personally I cant see it rivalling Facebook’s 400 million users, but seemingly its trying to target Google’s 170 million Gmail users. Google have previously failed to create a social network with the site orkut, which has only really seen success in Brazil and India.

Apple have revealed the Apple iPad. It seems that the rumours were right. Im still puzzled as to what the main function of the iPad is for? To me it looks like an overgrown iPhone. Looks impresive though.

Prices are set at:

16GB –
$499 WI-FI
$629 WI-FI + 3G

32GB -
$599 WI-FI
$729 WI-FI + 3G

64GB -
$699 WI-FI
$829 WI-FI + 3G

The 16GB seems a reasonable price. The iPad is going to rival most netbooks, with a high probability of dominating the market. I for one would prefer an Apple iPad rather than an eee PC.

If you think its too expensive… fear not! you can get one free from Free Apple iPad They will be up on there and available shortly so dont hang about and sign up for your free ipad (or any other gift) quick!

For full specs and features visit: Apple iPad

You can expect Wi-Fi models shipping in late March. 3G models shipping in April. (This is the Apple.com other country’s are awaiting confirmation.)

Thoughts?

Google homepage displays: “This space intentionally left blank”.

By simply pressing F5 continuously on the Google Homepage I noticed that numerous things would appear, then disappear and then new things would appear. This seems to be Google doing more testing.

Upon moving the cursor, it fades back into the normal homepage.

Spooky ;)

Palm Pre

Palm Pre

Today see’s the release of the Palm Pre into the UK ‘Smartphone’ market. It highly anticipated release has been in the making for several years and had been touted as an ‘iPhone killer’ in the US market.

It introduces its own OS, which is known as webOS, similar to the way a user can multi task applications on a desktop.

Only time will tell if It will turn into an ‘iPhone killer’, but I cant personally see anything ever totally killing the Apple iPhone.

On another note October 14th saw the release of the Blackberry Storm 2, which see’s the introduction of an improved touchscreen technology, helping to improve its typing experience.

Spotify Mobile

After a long wait Spotify mobile has been released on the iPhone and Android platforms. Spotify has become a very popular free source for music and it was only a matter of time before it hit the mobile platforms.

However in order to use Spotify mobile you must have a Spotify Premium account, meaning that the music is no longer free. Also Spotify mobile requires internet access when streaming music, which may mean extra charges depending on your data plan.

Features Overview:
* Stream over WiFi or 2.5/3G

* Offline playlists
Play music even without a connection, for example when riding
the underground or on a plane.

* Access your Spotify account
All your playlists will be made available.

* On-the-fly sync
Add a track to a playlist and see it appear immediately on your
computer and vice versa.

The good news is that Spotify are working on bringing Spotify mobile to other mobile platforms. Watch this space.
