While reading another blog I saw saw a link to blippy.com so I decided to check it out. My first impression was that it was a mix of twitter meets facebook status, where a user post when they purchase something from selected range of companys like netflix, iTunes etc.

I think its quite interesting to see what other people think of other people’s purchased items, if you like what people have said maybe you might want to purchase the item yourself. Its a more social way of sharing reviews, and you can even follow that person(s) if you think their review is awsome!

“Blippy is a fun and easy way to see and discuss what everyone is buying.”

I cant see me making much use of the service as I don’t buy alot of things on-line, but I suppose its more fun that keep old receipts…its social networking meets purchases.

Why not have a play around.

Google Buzz has been developed by Google to rival the likes of social networking giants Facebook and Twitter. Google buzz is currently being rolled out to everyone, so it should be appearing in peoples Gmail accounts soon.

Features:

No setup needed
Automatically follow the people you email and chat with the most in Gmail.

Share publicly or privately
Publish your ideas to the world or just to your closest friends.

Inbox integration
Comments get sent right to your inbox so it’s easy to keep the conversation going.

Photo friendly
See thumbnails with each post, and browse full-screen photos from popular sites.

Connect sites you already use
Import your stuff from Twitter, Picasa, Flickr, and Google Reader.

See updates in real time:
New posts and comments pop in as they happen. No refresh required.

Just the good stuff
Buzz recommends interesting posts and weeds out ones you’re likely to skip.

This comes at the time when Facebook have just launched their new and imporved ‘home’ design, which has a more web 2.0 feel to it.

Personally I cant see it rivalling Facebook’s 400 million users, but seemingly its trying to target Google’s 170 million Gmail users. Google have previously failed to create a social network with the site orkut, which has only really seen success in Brazil and India.

Watch this space.
